Introduction to Service Learning
All U.S. Government students must complete at least TEN HOURS of APPROVED Service Learning to receive credit for the course with a minimum of FIVE HOURS per semester. The purpose of service learning is to promote the values of citizenship, civic responsibility, altruism, and loyalty as students work to make a difference in their community. “Approved Service Learning” means any volunteer work for a service/non-profit organization for which the student receives no monetary or other remuneration. Students also cannot submit service for which they are receiving any other credit.
Service Learning Project Due Dates: 2018-19
- Pre-Service Contact Information and Essay: Wednesday, September 12, 2018
- First Semester Completed Verification Form (5 hours minimum): Friday, January 4, 2019
- Post-Service Learning Project (10+ hours and Essay): Friday, April 12, 2019
